Farm Building Conversion
Location:Blaenpennal, Tregaron, Ceredigion
Client:Mr & Mrs A. Saville
Architect:Private
Contract Value: £489,706.08 (3 Phases)
Duration: 52 weeks
Contract Details
The project involved the conversion of former farm out buildings into self contained holiday accommodation. Works carried out at the site were the demolition of stone walls and their re construction in cavity walls and stone clad using traditional lime mortars. Excavation of old floors, and the installation of new concrete floors, to building regulation standards. Removal of corrugated sheet roof including all timbers, installation of new purpose made roof trusses and new natural welsh slate roofing.
Site Difficulties
The site was located on a very narrow lane which caused problems with regards to material deliveries. The decision was made to construct the new visitors car park as works started on the main buildings to help with the deliveries of materials to site. The site is also a film studio and visitors centre for a popular Welsh Language children’s programme which caused some difficulty with visitors coming to site to see the works progressing and having to work around the film crews who were working on the set as works were in progress.
